Details about Graham Field Renovation Unveiled

At a Princeton Park Block Club meeting on September 26, Chatham University representatives gave updates on the $3.8 million renovation of Wilkinburg’s Graham Field.  The field is slated to be ready by spring 2020.Representative listened to concerns and answered questions at the meeting. Here are some highlights:•  The new field will have artificial turf, LED field lighting, a digital scoreboard, a press box, and renovated locker rooms and grandstand.• Chatham has a 100-year lease on the property from the school district for their university’s lacrosse and soccer teams.•  Chatham plans to continue to keep the field available to the community for football and other youth programs, as well as neighborhood walkers.•  Sports team schedules will be posted on Chatham Athletics’ website at www.gochathamcougars.com.• Parking within the field’s gates will be expanded to include as many as 50 cars.•  Chatham representatives said that they would work with Wilkinsburg Borough and renters to encourage observance of legal parking and the cleanup of trash on game days.•  New restroom accommodations are planned to be part of the renovations, using the old maintenance building on the property.•  Significant “green” efforts have been made to ensure new, proper drainage of the field and avoid run-off to neighborhood housing.  This includes a conservation area with a pond to capture drainage.•
